Connect Fund’s equity investment in Singlify, announced late last year, has pricked up ears.

That’s partly because Singlify’s product – a management system designed specifically for social investors – seems to be a genuine innovation. Janie Oliver, director of finance and operations at Access – the Foundation for Social Investment(which finances Connect Fund’s work), sees the software as potentially “a key building block” in the social investment market.

But the news is perhaps most notable because it’s Connect Fund’s first equity investment, and one of very few UK social investments using equity rather than debt as a way to provide finance.
