Project: Collective Leadership Group

Grant: £30,000

The Collective Leadership Group (CLG) is a growing community formed of organisations that exist to build the capacity of thousands of social sector leaders and ventures every year. It currently has over 40 members, including Unltd, School for Social Entrepreneurs and The Young Foundation. The CLG will use the grant to establish a Community Lead role to continue its work of sharing, connecting and collaborating to foster a deeper understanding of what enterprises need in order to build, grow and sustain the impact of their organisation. The Community Lead role will focus on creating better access to support and expertise through solutions that enable joined-up and accessible development programmes for social sector leaders. The CLG hopes this work can then widen its focus to explore other challenges in the market, including access to customers and to more flexible finance.

The CLG will look to produce new research and reporting into aspects of the enterprise support and leadership support ecosystem, with a particular focus on understanding the barriers diverse leaders face when accessing support. The Community Lead will also help the CLG to explore options for co-funded and co-delivered services, as well as growing its membership, which will help it to increase its collective influence. This will help more organisations to access high-quality support, training and information to develop their leadership and governance, demonstrate their social impact, increase their capacity for enterprise and continue to grow their income with the use of social investment.
